In a Shift View rota, care workers typically work the same shift patterns and hours each week, but on different days according to the rota cycle.
As a general rule, the number of care workers linked to the rota should match the number of weeks within the rota cycle.
Example: Four week shift view rota
In a four week rota, the shift allocation may operate as follows:
Week one
Carer A – Week 1 Shift, 4 nights.
Carer B – Week 2 Shift, 4 nights.
Carer C – Week 3 Shift, 3 nights.
Carer D – Week 4 Shift, 3 nights.
Week two
At the start of the following week, each care worker moves to the next shift pattern in the rotation:
Carer D – Week 1 Shift, 4 nights.
Carer A – Week 2 Shift, 4 nights.
Carer B – Week 3 Shift, 3 nights.
Carer C – Week 4 Shift, 3 nights.
This rotation continues throughout the rota cycle, ensuring an even distribution of shifts among staff members.
📌Note: Shifts within a Shift View rota can only be modified before Care Workers have been assigned to the shifts.
Once staff have been allocated, the rota structure becomes fixed and any required amendments would need to be managed through alternative scheduling arrangements.
